I am an artist based out of Oberlin, Ohio. Through photography and printmaking, my work is focused on examining landscape in comparison to a myriad of things. I am interested in creating relationships that are not immediately apparent to my viewer. I have exhibited throughout Ohio and recently completed an artist residency at Kala Art Institute in Berkeley, California. In 2016, I received my BFA in photography and integrated media from Ohio University. I curated my first exhibition my senior year, In the Blink of an Eye: Photographs by David Currie, at the Kennedy Museum of Art, and helped curate multiple exhibitions at Blank Slate Gallery.

I also work as a freelance photographer and designer. If you would like to work with me, please send an email to shelbyrfickel@gmail.com.
